Floor sanding in Saint-Laurent

Our expertise has been passed down from father to son for five decades.

For floor sanding services in the Saint-Laurent area, work with the team at PLANCHERS GUY BÉDARD ET FILS, which has the expertise needed to deliver spectacular results.

We work on hardwood floors and engineered wood floors in houses, commercial spaces, and institutional buildings.

Our team also performs floor repairs as well as stair sanding and finishing.

Floor sanding and finishing

Complete floor sanding is recommended when the surface is heavily scratched or when the wear is uniform, whether for hardwood or engineered wood floors.

This process removes the existing finish, corrects imperfections, and creates a clean base. Once the sanding is completed, several finishing options are available.

Hardwood floors can be fully sanded several times over the years. However, only a thin layer of wood must be removed each time.

To achieve this, our team uses a drum sander and passes over the surface three times, using progressively finer sandpaper.

The first sanding removes the old varnish, the second refines the surface by eliminating imperfections, and the third acts as a polishing stage that prepares the wood for the varnish application.

Repairs can also be carried out before sanding to ensure a uniform final result.

Finishing according to your preference

Some clients choose a durable eco-friendly varnish available in several finishes. Others prefer to have their floor stained before the varnish is applied, or to apply an oil finish that preserves a more natural and matte appearance.

We use high-performance eco-friendly finishing products from the Berger-Seidle brand (AquaSeal range).

Engineered wood floors

Engineered wood floors require special attention. Because their wood layer is thinner, they cannot undergo the same interventions as hardwood floors.

We therefore adapt our method to achieve a beautiful result without compromising the integrity of the floor.

We can also sand the most damaged areas and mechanically brush the rest of the floor to remove scratches and wear marks. We then apply a new varnish to the entire floor.

This refresh option is offered at a fraction of the cost of a complete floor sanding.
